The Alpha with the Prince

On July 19, 2024, as part of Dingdong Avanzado's thirty-seven years in the Philippine music industry, Pablo performed his latest track, Edsa with the Prince of Pop. It was a fun and enjoyable performance, showing the versatility of both artists. A legend known for his ballad songs that touched the hearts of many Filipinos, who would have thought that Dingdong Avanzado would ride an e-bike and sing Edsa on The Theater stage? It was a night to remember for the fans of both Dingdong and Pablo for it was like two generations meeting together for a night of good music and laughter.

Many Filipinos may not know this, but Dingdong is a huge fan of SB19, especially Pablo. In the legend's own words, he instantly gravitates toward Pinuno being a songwriter himself. He recognizes Pablo's brilliant mind and genuine talent, which prompted him to include Pinuno on his list of guests. It was both an honor and a challenge for our young artist, given that it was not just his fans watching the concert. Dingdong's fans and close friends were there, too. But the way Mr. Avanzado and his daughter introduced and talked about him was more than enough to put a smile on our faces.

An undeniable talent, yet still so humble despite all of his achievements whether within the group or as an individual, Pablo is truly a rare gem. Many claim to be a songwriter, but not a lot actually have the elegance and intelligence, as well as the heart to write beautiful songs. Fewer can be both a singer and a songwriter, but Pablo is on another level. He has the intellectual capacity and creativity to write beautiful lyrics rich with wordplay, double entendre, and cultural references, and turn them into a song that delivers messages straight to the heart.

But the highlight of the evening was when the two sang Basta's Kasama Kita, giving it a whole new flavor of emotion that resonated through the entire theater. It was highly anticipated by A'tin and Hatdogs who braved the storm, myself included, but when we finally witnessed it, we were blown away. As someone who had never supported Philippine entertainment before I found SB19, I thought hearing a song I've heard my entire life would be a normal experience for me. I was dead wrong. The moment the instrumental began, I felt excitement rush through me. Knowing how talented he is, I knew he would nail that performance, but they did more than that.

As soon as Pablo sang the first few lines of the song, I felt warmth in my heart. He sounded so good, and I could feel the emotion in every word. An already beautiful song became something more with his perfectly raspy voice with a balanced tone of both female and male voices. Having been used to his all-out vocal performances with heavy emotions in his group's ballads and full of grit on their hype song, I did not expect for him to sound that good singing a more mellow song.

It goes to show his versatility as an artist. his love for his craft, and great work ethic. He could have stayed on his own genre and way of singing, but he knew the honor that came with the invitation to be part of such a night. Listening to him sing his parts in the song somehow showed me how it felt to be serenaded. He truly has a way of making people the song. Pablo gave us a glimpse of how it would be once he finally decided to release mellow songs and softer ballads, and we are all excited. Now, more than ever, the anticipation for Drowning In The Water, one of his unreleased songs became greater.

His caliber can surely release different types of emotional songs from gut-wrenching to romantic, from songs talking about life to those that talk about heartache. It will surely be a hell of an emotional roller coaster ride. To those who haven't heard of it, here is a snippet of one of Pablo's emotional love songs he posted on TikTok. A song that was written about fifteen years ago and is still yet to be released, hopefully.
