WALA

From being a trailer for La Luna, this song is finally getting the exposure and recognition it deserves. For those who already know Pablo, we know how fascinated he is with the moon. It's almost always present in his songs, but this one actually focused on the metaphor and relation of the moon in people's lives. People who always smile through the pain and hide their struggles from everyone could definitely relate to this song and its message. Who's there for you when the world gets so dark that can't see the path anymore? Who's there to hold your hand when you feel lost and help you find the way again?

Many people would turn to the moon for peace after a hard day. We sit outside under the light of the moon and just let out a scream to release the anger and have a space for new pain. It's the moon that witnesses our silent cries and listens to our desperation. But with Pablo's music, we finally get another reason not to feel alone and realize that somebody's listening.

Lumalalim na naman ang gabi
Hudyat nito'y pamamalagi sa gunita ng pagsisisi
'Di ko maintindihan ang pighati
Siguro nga'y hindi lubos na kilala aking sarili

Some people dread the coming of nighttime because they hate to be alone. These are the people who crave the company of others. They would do everything to be liked by everybody so they would never be alone, except when they go home, yet for others, nighttime is when they finally feel peace and safety. Nowadays, people are starting to realize that mental health is as important as physical health, and it's when we are alone that our mental health gets to rest.

Ikaw ba'y may alam sa'king dinaramdam?
O tulad nilang walang pakialam?

This part is a question not just to the moon but to the people who act as if they care and understand what we feel. What we don't realize in life is that many of the people around us don't really care about us. They ask us how we're doing, but not because they give a damn. It is what's expected from them. Others are just interested in the story we can share.  Same as the moon that would always be there to listen to us as we scream our pain away, but does it really care?

Oh, buwan
Ikaw nga ba'y tunay na kaibigan? (Oh, ooh-woah)
Lulan mo lang sa'king mundo ay kalungkutan (Oh, ooh-woah)
Dapat ka nga bang pasalamatan?
Kung kasiyaha'y sa t'wing ika'y lilisan
Gayunpaman ay

This is not just for the moon but for all the people around us. Do they really care? Do they really see us hurting or they are too focused on taking everything we've got? Nighttime brings us silence and peace, a time to think about life and feel all the pain we've been hiding. When the moon rises and the noise of the world fades, the things and people that kept us sane for the day. Do we have to thank God for creating night and day if all we feel at night is loneliness?

Kay tagal naghahanap sa salarin
Ni hindi sumagi sa isipang tumingin sa salamin
Wala namang magagawa pa kung 'di tanggapin
At unti-unting pilitin ang sarili ay mahalin

Many of us look everywhere to find out who to blame for our pain and suffering, everywhere but within. It's easier that way, isn't it? Blaming the people around us for every bad thing that happened without even considering that maybe, just maybe we are to blame. Pablo tells us that we can only start learning to love ourselves once we finally accept who we are, which is true. One can never fully be happy about who he or she is without realizing one's imperfection.

This song is for those who are lost in life, struggling to find comfort in knowing that life will never be easy. This is a song that gives you a reason to finally look in the mirror long and hard, and accept what you see. Life's beauty is not from the happiness and joy that we feel but from the pain we endure. It's the lessons we learn in life that make us stronger and whole, so welcome the pain for it will mold into something better.
