Charged To Lead

This is the kind of smile that A'tin never wants him to lose. A smile that resonates with everyone and uplifts the people around him. The kind of smile that can capture and melt the hearts of the people lucky enough to witness it. Once again, Pinunong Pablo gave a lot of fans a memory to treasure. Just a few hours ago, Acer Philippines held the second day of the Acer U Campus Bus Tour event at SM Mall of Asia.

Pablo looked like the team captain of a varsity team in his denim jeans and green jacket, but the highlight of his fit was his braided hair. Any hairstyle suits him, but androgyny truly brings out his gorgeousness. From the time he arrived at the event until he left, a large crowd gathered to watch him perform and interact with fans. His vibe throughout the event was that of happiness, comfort, and confidence. A perfect mixture that gives him a beautiful glow.

As part of the program, Pablo joined the activities set by Acer and enjoyed shooting hoops at the mini-basketball section. Fans captured him on camera smiling the whole time and it was a sight to see. In his younger years, Pablo used to play basketball as his main sport he even got to become a high school point guard, but with his busy schedule, it is possible that he no longer has the time to play. So to see him enjoy himself in the simplest things makes his Hatdogs happy.

For the longest time, despite their fame, he remained the shy guy who would cringe even in the simplest finger heart, which made him so adorable to the fans. But today, a shocking revelation unfolded right before our eyes. Not only did he say I love you too to a female fan, but he also called another fortunate woman Baby Girl. Awww! (Binata na si Pinuno) Good thing that his Hatdogs were raised right. There was no violent reaction, but I think that was more because of Pinuno's alternate personality, Chona. Just kidding! Kinda?

When it was all said and done, Pablo gave an electrifying performance of his solo song, edsa, and his first-ever solo performance of Crimzone, the SB19's hype beast of a song. He sang a song performed by five individuals and brought the house down. Kudos to the people in the event, too. They all vibed with him during the performance and partied as if they were in an actual concert. The mood during his performance gave him the boost he needed to get in his zone.

And have you ever seen a celebrity randomly kiss a staff in the forehead? Because I haven't, then there's Pablo and his randomness. Out of nowhere, while signing something for a fan, a staff approached him. He looked like he was in a hurry and after signing the item for the fan, Pablo gave it to the staff and kissed him on the forehead while holding his head. It was so casual as if it happens often that the staff didn't even flinched. Surely, there are still a lot of things we don't know about him whether as Pablo or as John Paulo Nase, but the more we get to know him, we just love him even more.

The CEO

 One of the many hats that Pablo wears is being the CEO of their company, 1Z Entertainment.

From being a young boy who wanted to be a rapper to being one of the most talented singers, songwriters, and music producers of this generation, he had certainly come a long way. Pablo once said that being a leader is like being a parent and assuming both roles, being a father and a mother. You have to make sure it's safe for your children, that they are taken care of, and most importantly, they're happy. You could see that he did a great job judging the way their group and their solo careers are going right now.

They are no longer a boy group but five artists working together to make history. With his leadership, his members managed to hone their skills, build their individual identities, and pave their own paths. He was true to his words and became a second parent to his members. Good parents teach their children, prepare them for the world, and when the time comes, allow them to fly free. Justin finally achieved his dream of releasing his solo song. He had been directing their music videos and is pursuing his passion for arts. Stell may be the last one to release his solo music but it was already a hit.

Josh has been constantly showing his capabilities as a songwriter and music producer himself. His vocal capability is constantly improving, and he has been holding his own in his solo endeavors. Who is not excited for Ken, also known as Felip's solo album release this coming July? All of these were the fruit of their relentless pursuit of their dreams, but it would be a lie to say that their Pinuno didn't have a hand in all of it.

Now, he is embracing another role: a parent of a much larger family. Just recently, he announced the opening of their first audition. As 1Z Entertainment takes on the journey of building their first-ever girl group, Pablo is one of the people who are right in the center of it. During an interview with Rappler, he shared his intimate thoughts about their plans for their upcoming talents. He said their future artists will be like their babies, their own children, just like how he saw his brothers at the beginning of their careers.

Surely, their future talents would have a rough journey as every artist has, but having SB19, especially Pablo on their side, we know that they will be safe and there's nothing they wouldn't survive. Listening to the Alpha talk not as SB19's leader, but as 1Z Entertainment's CEO was eye-opening. It made us realize that he is so much more than a pretty face we cheer for whenever he is on stage. We already know that he has the best character and mind, but knowing his thoughts about the music industry in general and his selflessness as a person is another story.

In this Rappler interview, Pablo said that he wants their upcoming girl group to fly and reach heights that SB19 didn't reach and that he wants them to succeed more than them. His views of the industry as a whole are optimistic and hopeful. He sincerely wants a better future for every Filipino artist. They are not there to compete but to make a legacy that would benefit not just themselves, but the country too. He has a vision, and it is evident how dedicated he is to turning that vision into reality.

Guided by his views on life, the lessons he learned through the years, and the love he had received from his family, friends, and fans, he vowed to ensure that their coming group would have the best of everything. Pablo also said that they will try to make sure that their future talents would never experience all the hardships they had to endure when they were starting and the painful experiences they had to face along their journey. Talking like a true father there.

 

With his group, Pablo is the leader, chief songwriter, and musical director, assigning each part of the song to the member he thinks is perfect for it. He is a team player, but most importantly, he is their guide, especially in the beginning. As a solo artist, he is an entirely different person. An artist who tells different stories about life, encourages people with his music, and teaches all of us important lessons, but inside 1Z Entertainment, he takes on the most important role thus far. He looks into the future and accepts that the possibilities are endless. In one timeline, they will become the biggest name in the Philippine Music Industry, flying from country to country doing concerts, but he knew that there was another timeline. One where they finally realized that they'd already reached their peak and decided to call it.

Whichever may come true, he already had plans prepared. Just like what he said, breaking the norm is always being on top of your game. It is about prepared for whatever comes your way. He truly is a man with a plan, and you know that no matter what, something great and historical is just around the corner. Whatever happens in the future, we are very excited to be a part of his journey and witness greatness unfold.

Edsa

 Pablo is best known for his lyricism. He is undoubtedly a master of his own domain in writing songs. He can stir emotions you don't even know was there. Happiness, sadness, love, pride, courage, bravery, whatever he wants you to feel, you can bet that you will. A Picasso of music, you could say. He can paint an entire world that would draw you in and make you feel human again. That is the Pablo Effect that even when he sings, your heart will sing with him, even when you try to fight it.

Recently, Pablo released a new single titled 'edsa', and who doesn't know that famous highway for its heavy traffic that doesn't seem to end? One would need bottomless patience not to be pissed by the amount of time you'd have to spend in EDSA, and not just there, you know? Roads, it has this uncanny way of bringing out the worst in people. Nowadays, social media has become a great source of information, we have seen many footage of people doing stupid things on the road. How many lives were lost unexpectedly because of one wrong U-turn? How many beautiful dreams were snatched away because of an impatient driver trying to overtake everybody?

Pablo said during his All Out Sunday guesting that it's better to drive with positivity in mind. It prevents unnecessary rage that keeps our minds focused on the task at hand—to drive safely and get to our destination in one piece. When we drive, we must remember that it's not just our lives we need to think about. Everybody else around us has families waiting for them. Sons and daughters who need their fathers; brothers and sisters who want to grow up with their siblings, and wives and husbands who want to grow old with the love of their lives. Pinuno had always been an advocate of logical thinking, kindness, and humanity. You can feel it in all the songs he had ever written.

Edsa is another great song under the belt of an already incredible songwriter. A feel-good song that would make you smile with meaningful lyrics.

"Marami mang aberyang hadlang sa'yong daan, patuloy lang ang andar sa'yong pupuntahan.

Kahit pa minsan nama'y hindi mo na malaan, basta walang masagaan. Kaya diretso lang, diretso lang palagi mong tatandaan. May nag-aabang sa'yo, 'di ba?"

This part alone has so much meaning depending on who is listening. Riders and drivers would face constant temptations on the road to just explode, but they all have destinations. They must reach that destination, so they must stay calm because they know that people are waiting for them. People love to say that life is like a never-ending road. You will encounter countless bumps, some would be enough to knock you down, or worse, pin you down. But we don't have any other choice as long as we're alive aside from pushing forward, to keep fighting. This, to many of us who love our Pinuno, is what edsa means.

                   

Last night, Pablo witnessed the love and support of A'tin and his Hatdogs when he performed edsa on Wish Bus at Eton Centris. It was a surprise announcement, with probably only a few people in the know, yet the number of people who went on a Wednesday night was overwhelming. During his Musika ni Juan performance, Pablo said: Hindi na sila lowkey. Referring to his fans, Hatdogs. His happiness was palpable, evident in his smiles and the sparkle in his eyes. More and more people are starting to appreciate his artistry, which makes his fans even happier.

From having about sixty thousand monthly listeners to having two hundred thousand just this month, his career progress is on the right track. People are beginning to recognize him not just for his talent but as a person. His recent statement about humility, respect, acceptance, understanding, and unity of people before Independence Day made a huge impact on many people. His words are always necessary, oftentimes exactly what was needed. This is one of the many reasons he is so loved and adored. Here is to hoping that Pablo's songs reach more people, especially those who need it to go through life.

Pinunong Marikit

            

Among local and international celebrities, only a few men were brave enough to bend the fashion trend, and too few could actually rock it. In the Philippines, only SB19's leader, Pablo has the guts to continuously break the stigma of what men can and should wear. His soft facial features, demure attitude, and sweet smile fit perfectly into one person, giving him an androgynous vibe that can rock a skirt anytime, anywhere. This is one of the things that A'tin and Hatdogs love about him. He doesn't need extravagance or flashy attire. Just give this man a skirt, and he will definitely make heads turn.

I personally have been wondering how a man can depict the perfect amount of feminity and masculinity and balance them together. None of his past outfits were either over the top or lacking, just always the right amount of fashion and accessories. The mix and matches of male and female clothes, showing his versatility and duality, has become his fashion brand Anyone who sees him in his iconic fits will surely have a smile on their faces and will left with the same question: How can he do that?

But it's not just his fashion style that leaves many of us in awe.

                                                                                                

Whether it is short hair, semi-long, or long hair, Pablo has that face that can pull it off. He can be the man of your dreams, or the woman, well—depending on what he's wearing and his hairstyle. A'tin and Hatdogs lovingly call him 'Poganda' short for pogi (handsome) at maganda (pretty/beautiful), which was the perfect definition of his visuals.

I mean, just look at that.

Pablo is already an icon when it comes to non-conformity and breaking away from tradition and conventions. He continuously pushes the boundaries that limit one's desires to show uniqueness and true identity. He is not afraid to be judged or criticized for his looks or personality. The most important thing for him in his journey is freedom, and he's definitely owning it. He is the best example of someone doing what makes him happy and feel alive. People, especially men, should take a page from his book. Not just with how he dresses because it takes comfort to pull it off but also as a person in general.  What a great example and inspiration!

On June 12, 2024, Pablo performed as a solo artist for the Independence Day celebration of Araneta City at the Quantum Skyview in Gateway Mall 2. A'tin and his Hatdogs showed how strong their support for the greatly beloved leader was. Everybody waited with anticipation, excited to hear the songs he would perform and the outfit he would wear for the day. Known for his brave fashion taste, those at the venue enthusiastically waited for his performance.

But before our Pinuno, two talented men performed called Better Days. Their songs, though mellow, were a breath of fresh air. Filipinos are remarkably talented. All we need is exposure and an opportunity, and the world will never be able to refuse us. One of their original composition, Hilom, was already featured on Wish Bus.

Back to our Alpha. Some people say behind a successful man is an amazing and supportive woman. While that is true, there is another truth that we must acknowledge. Every successful and wonderful person has equally wonderful parents, and Pablo was beyond blessed. As much as they can, Tito Ted and Tita Grace would be there to support him in his performances, whether with his group or as a soloist. Their love for him is a beautiful thing that hopefully, many sons and daughters get to enjoy.

They have been an inspiration for Pablo to create meaningful songs and helped steer him in the right direction. With their guidance, a man worthy of admiration and applause was presented to the world. Because of their love, a true inspiration and role model to others was given to the people. But it's not only them who always have Pablo's back. Josue, the other half of Radkidz, had always been there to help his older brother through his journey. An equally talented composer, rapper, and music producer, Josue is a master in his own right. He had been spotted in many local gigs of SB19, minding the technical stuff, ensuring that past tech issues the group experienced would never happen again.

               

For a man this talented, he was so humble and easy to approach, always welcomed people with a smile, and was evidently shy. It warmed my heart to see people recognize and adore him for he truly deserves. Josue is not just a master behind the music and the stuff many of us have no idea about. He is the other voice in Determinado and Akala, two songs that have wowed us and inspired us to keep going in life. His song Agos is a personal favorite of mine, and I highly recommend it.

When Pablo finally came out to perform, the Quantum Skyview roared as everyone cheered for our shining star. He was smiling from ear to ear with a hint of shyness in his eyes. It was evident that until now, he was still oblivious to the fact that he already captured many hearts and locked them in the freezer. The first song he sang was one of SB19's hit songs, Mapa, a song he wrote in honor of all the parents and guardians who tirelessly worked and are still working to provide and care for their children and those who are under their care. This is the kind of song that would live through generations as it completely expresses the love we have for the people who have guided us through life. 

With his talent and personality, Pablo will continue to achieve greater heights, and we will all be there to support him, right A'tin and Hatdogs?

The Non-Conformist

In a world full of people who do everything to follow the trend, Pablo is the one person who always stands out. From how he carries himself, talks, and thinks to how he dresses, he is recognizable for being unique.

When he was starting, many expected him to be just like all the idols we've all seen: sexy, vain, with lean muscles, and with a name that is always associated with hotness and ladies. There's nothing wrong with that, but it had been used so often that it had already become predictable. From the KPOP scene, where idols were reportedly forbidden to date while still under management, to the current scandals, many certainly look at the PPOP scene with the same scrutiny. Fortunately, SB19, especially Pablo, has always been vocal that he will never be the typical idol. Time and time again, he had proven that he would remain true to his words.

Pablo's fashion speaks volumes of how much he wants to break from the norm. Acceptance is never easy; it takes time, sometimes a very long time, before people accept what they aren't used to, but Pinuno was never afraid to stray from what the world had gotten used to. Have you seen a man who could rock a long skirt like him? Time and time again, he had proven that not all clothes are gender conformist and that even a man can use a woman's clothing to look stylish.

This rebellious attitude is evident in the kind of music he released. With his talent, he could easily make something the general public would accept, but that was never the Pablo Way. Even his most laid-back track to date, Edsa, Pablo gave us a meaningful song full of hope. His wordplay and double entendres have always been present in all of his songs. The way he writes lyrics is like a beautiful painting on a canvas, full of colors and stories.

Determinado is one of those songs that is so beautifully written that just listening to it would give you a much-needed drive to keep going in life. It tells us that simply knowing what we must do is never enough. We need sheer determination, focus, drive, and the guts to do what it takes to accomplish our goals. In order to reach our destination, we must learn to navigate away from all the things that would only weigh us down. 

And who would forget Pablo's first brainchild as a solo artist? La Luna is that song that would make you realize that you are your worst enemy. The song tells us to look in the mirror and see ourselves. Are we being true to ourselves? Are we being real? Why are we afraid to break free from what's been holding us down? In Lycanthropy, it is believed that the more you fight the pain as your body shifts to its wolf form, the more it hurts. You have to let the pain take over and for your mind to get lost in the blissful agony. Just like a werewolf in transition, we tend to fight who we truly are and shy away from what we could actually do because we're afraid. Stop being scared and let it all out.

Pablo is the definition of non-conformity. From his looks, how he carries himself, the songs he brings to the world, and how he approaches things. It is the kind of rebelliousness we all need. Going with the flow is the safest way to go, but it is never the most satisfying. Challenge life, break free from what is expected of you, get out of your comfort zone, and show the world how uniquely beautiful you are.

John Paulo Bagnas Nase

Since he was a little boy, John Paulo has been different from most kids. His mind wondered about many things, and it made him curious. Growing up, he was interested in becoming a rapper but was too shy to pursue his dreams. Academically, he was naturally gifted. It has been said that when he went to college, he initially took Accounting but immediately realized it was not what he wanted. Whether consciously or unconsciously, Paulo knew that his love for writing and the literary arts would outweigh everything, so he switched to AB English and graduated with honors. Immediately after graduating, he landed a job and began helping his family.

His childhood was typical Filipino, with many siblings. It was fun, possibly chaotic, and full of love, but it will eat you from the inside out when your heart desires something. Paulo started to join rap battles and intended to use imszmc as a stage name, but he always ended up introducing his real name due to his shyness.

Destiny—is it real or not? Many would argue that there are certain parts of a person's life when he does everything to take a different path and still ends up somewhere he never intended to be. Regardless of its truth, one could say that Paulo was destined for greatness. Why did I mention destiny? Let me tell you why.

Hongganda discovered this shy guy joining rap battles who couldn't even introduce himself using his intended stage name. Coincidence? Probably. Then, this shy guy was offered to be a solo artist, which he agreed to. Instead of being a solo artist, he became part of a group. Another coincidence? Maybe. But then, he was assigned to be the leader of the group and the chief songwriter, and he was basically the only person in that group who didn't know any of them.

When you think about it, Paulo was placed in that group for a reason: to lead four other individuals to greatness. Even during their training days, he was already helping people improve and keep their spots. One of those people was Justin. He once said that even when Paulo had to train himself, he would still help in any way he could. Initially, he held on to his job while training, leaving himself little to no time to rest. Complaining was never an option because he has a family he must consider as he work on achieving his dreams.

But the human body can only take so much. Paulo once said that he reached a point when his body felt numb because of fatigue. He realized that something had to give. With his parents' blessing, Paulo gave up his job and focused on training. In 2018, SBT finally introduced its first-ever PPOP group, SB19. They did everything to make their presence known. They performed in small events and tried to strengthen their online presence, but the group's debut song, Tilaluha, caught little attention.

It was supposed to capture the hearts of the Filipinos, considering it was a sad ballad, but it didn't. Knowing they'd already sacrificed so much, the five young men gave it another try; Paulo, who debuted as Sejun, was already experiencing depression. Who wouldn't? He sacrificed his job and the ability to help his family, hoping his dreams were not impossible to achieve.

Sejun almost gave up, but he held on through his faith, his family's support, and his love for his group mates. Fast-forward to the future and all his sacrifices and hard work have paid off. Now known as Pablo, his creations have already made their mark in the hearts of millions of people. Everything he went through taught him to never give up on his dreams, to fight for what he believes in, and to protect his beliefs. A man who wears his truth openly for everyone to see, Pablo is not the typical 'idol' many people thought he would be.

His imperfections made him the perfect example of goodness, perseverance, and hard work. He is a true leader, and he leads by example. From the day he started as Sejun until he changed his stage name to Pablo, he is still the same John Paulo who believes that this country still has hope for a better future. The awareness that he is only human and would commit mistakes every once in a while, with the commitment to learn from his every mistake, is a commendable trait. This is something that Pablo had lived by in his life.

He has many advocacy, but one of the most important advocacy he has been very consistent and vocal about was protecting the planet. During his appearance at Earth Hour 2024, held at the Kartilya ng Katipunan in Manila, Pablo said even with the smallest things, we can help save our planet. This is something that even his haters would surely agree with, and Pablo is not just all words and no actions.
